Phonopolis and their Blog

If you live in this neighbourhood then you probably already know about Phonopolis. If not here’s the lowdown…

Phonopolis is a great little record shop a few doors from us that specializes in Indie and Experimental Rock, Jazz, International music and Classic Blues (but if you want the new Jay-Z they have that too!).
The shop was opened by Nathan Gage, a music enthusiast with a record collection that would bring some grown men or women to their knees and musician playing bass in Shapes and Sizes. Other members of Shapes and Sizes include Caila Thompson-Hannant who sews beautiful clothes that are sold here at Woodenapples, Rory Seydel, my husband and Jon Crellin a super drummer.
Here’s a lovely picture of Nathan driving the old tour van.

You can catch S&S playing an instore at Phonopolis with Cryptacize next month. Which brings us the other super thing about Phonopolis, the instores. Cramming as many kids as you can into a basement to listen to amazing music has a way of bringing people together. So if you haven’t stopped by yet stroll on over to 5403A ave du Parc and then stop by here to say “hi, thanks for telling me about that great record store!” and show me the new music you got.
If you don’t live in Montreal or have no interest in going out in the snow you can still read the Phonopolis blog on which Nathan writes record reviews, talks about instores, and has a list of all the show tickets they’re currently selling.
